My Life As A Student by Mohd Hadi Firdaus bin Mohd Jaafar

My name is Mohd Hadi Firdaus Bin Mohd Jaafar. I was born in 11 April 1989 in Hospital Tanjung Karang, Selangor. I am the first child from four siblings. Now I am in leading strings in Politeknik Kuching Sarawak. Now, I share my life as a student.

When I first time step into school life, I felt, happy, sorrow, and fear. On that day, my mother had accompanied me until the schooling session ended. My mother also gave her advice on how mother how to be an excellent student. She then asked me to sit in front as it is easier to receive knowledge.. After one week, I was able to adapt myself in the school.

I felt excited when approaching secondary school environment. On my registration day, I met my friends in my primary school and my fully residential schools. The first week of schooling is the ‘Orientation Week’. This aimed to know the school organization, motto and school vision chart, activities which operate in a year. The schooling session starts from 7.20a.m until 1.50p.m except in Friday where we end at 12.30p.m, to allow for Friday prayer.

In the year of 2005 (form 4), I was offered to a boarding school, namely SMT Selangor Sungai Buloh. I have mixed feelings. I was grateful to be offered to the boarding school and able to experience new things. On the other hand I felt sad when I had to be apart with my family. However, that was the time where I first learned to be independent. Living in a hostel, I have to do everything on my own varying from washing and folding clothes to ironing them. This experience has made me who I am as I now I know how important it is to be independent.

Currently I am studying in the state of Sarawak, namely Polytechnics Kuching, Sarawak. This is the farthest learning institution from my family. Life as a student here is pretty hard because of no relatives and acquaintances. I am now in my final semester, in Mechanical Engineering (Petroleum). Here, I acquire many new experiences and friends from various states. As a student, I hope to be an excellent student as I knew I should meet my family's expectation in study. I hope in my future I can fulfil my family’s dreams and wishes.

In conclusion life as a student is not easy if. We must strive for independent life to develop ourselves in future. This will help us in facing the life with resilient determination.

What I Know about Petrochemical by Hirapille

Petrochemical is a general name for the petroleum and chemicals combines with processing or reaction any compound obtained from petroleum or natural gas. Petroleum is a mixture of hydrocarbon molecules. The molecules have different sizes and number of atoms. The small molecules have few carbon atoms and low boiling points, while the large molecules have many carbon atoms and high boiling points. In this form, petroleum is difficult to ignite and therefore is little use. It must be refined to make useful fuels and chemicals.

Petrochemical, any one of a large group of chemicals derived from a component of petroleum or natural gas. The cracking processes for manufacturing gasoline produce vast quantities of gaseous hydrocarbons. Originally considered waste products suitable only for use as illuminants and fuels, the gases today are manufactured into petrochemical substances widely employed in industry. Important petrochemical compounds are alcohols and aldehydes, butylenes, butadiene, ethylene, propylene, toluene, styrene, acetylene, benzene, ethylene oxide, ethylene glycol, acrylonitrile, acetone, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, and ammonia. Materials made from the gases include carbon black, synthetic rubber, polystyrene, polypropylene, and polyethylene. Petrochemicals are widely used in agriculture, in the manufacture of plastics, synthetic fibers, and explosives, and in the aircraft and automobile industries.

At industry, chemical is use to separate the petroleum (oil and gas) into fraction to fractional with a process. For example distillation process, absorption process, filtration process and etc.

Petrochemical industry plays a major role in our daily life. Almost everything that were are dependent nowadays are made from petrochemicals be it plastics, clothes, home appliance and etc. being in professional chemical engineering, one need to keep up with fast changing petrochemical industry especially when new process for new product, new chemicals an invented everyday.

Petrochemicals are chemical products made from raw materials of
petroleum or other hydrocarbon origin. Although some of the chemical compounds that originate from petroleum may also be derived from other sources such as coal or natural gas, petroleum is a major source of many.

My Life as A Student by Ahmad Fakhri

Life as a student is not as easy as expected. If you smart to manage your time it will look orderly and easy. But, if your time management is wrong, then life as a student will be very difficult.

At my 25 years age, many teens already have career and also married. But , I still live as a student at Politeknik in Kuching, Sarawak. Far life from families gives me greater challenges. As a man, I should also learn to be independent like everbody else.

Life in campus is very beautiful. I know many friends from various race and culture. Social intercourse between us had given me various attractive experience. A diffrences cultural also taught me to respect each other.

As a student, I need to arrange my daily schedule to make sure that I'm not late or fail to prepare assignments which were given by lecturers. Everyday I will use my time at least two or three hours to revise education at night. For me, learning or doing revision at night is the best time. This is because I am an active person. My daytime spent for class activities, sports and associations or clubs at campus.

I would make sure all the assignment which was given by lecturer is completed exactly at the time. This also would make me rest in the holiday period such as Saturday and Sunday. Although, all my days pack with learning in class, I still allocate my time with friends and also lecturer. Sometimes we spent our time with the activity like playing badminton and exercise. This kind of activity can consolidate our relationship as student and lecturer on campus. Apart from giving a healthty body, it’s also very good for me to clear all tenses after attending class or complete my assignment.

As a student, I also have time for entertainment with friends when out of my learning time. On weekends, if I having some time and not busy, I will go to town with friends to enjoy movie and karaoke. If too long were in campus and never go out also pretty boring. However, I should be smart in dividing time for learning and also other activity. My life will be more cheerful and not stressed with a good time management.

Envelopes, Stamps and COCKROACHES!!

A woman was working in a post Office in California . One day she licked the envelopes and postage stamps instead of using a sponge. That very day the lady found a cut on her tongue. A week later, she noticed an abnormal swelling of her tongue. She went to the doctor, and they found nothing wrong.. Her tongue was not sore or anything..
A couple of days later, her tongue started to swell more, and it began to get really sore, so sore, that she could not eat. She went back to the hospital, and demanded something be done.. The doctor took an x-ray of her tongue and noticed a lump. He prepared her for minor surgery. When The doctor cut her tongue open, a live cockroach crawled out!!!!
There were cockroach eggs on the seal of the Envelope. The egg was able to hatch inside of her tongue, because of her saliva, which was warm and moist. This is a true story reported on CNN! Andy Hume wrote: Hey, I used to work in an envelope factory. You wouldn't believe the....things that float around in those gum applicator trays. I haven't licked an envelope for years!' I used to work for a print shop (32 years ago), and we were told NEVER to lick the envelopes. I never understood why until I had to go into storage and pull out 2500 envelopes that were already printed and saw several squads of cockroaches roaming around inside a couple of boxes with eggs everywhere. They eat the glue on the envelopes.

PLEASE PASS THIS INFORMATION TO YOUR FRIENDS! After reading this you will never lick another envelope or stamp again.

Decode by Paramore

How can I decide what's right
When you're clouding up my mind?
I can't win your losing fight
All the time.

How can I ever own what's mine
When you're always taking sides?
But you won't take away my pride.
No, not this time.
Not this time.

How did we get here?
I used to know you so well.
How did we get here?
Well, I think I know.

The truth is hiding in your eyes
And it's hanging on your tongue.
Just boiling in my blood.
But you think that I can't see
What kind of man that you are,If you're a man at all.
Well, I will figure this one out
On my own.(I'm screaming, "I love you so.")
On my own.(My thoughts you can't decode.)

How did we get here?
I used to know you so well, yeah.
How did we get here?
Well, I think I know.

Do you see what we've done?
We've gone and made such fools Of ourselves.
Do you see what we've done?
We've gone and made such fools
Of ourselves.

How did we get here?
I used to know you so well, yeah, yeah.
How did we get here?
Well, I used to know you so well.
I think I know.
I think I know.

There is something I see in you.
It might kill me.
I want it to be true.

The Important of Road Safety by Sathiasegkaran a/l Muthumanickam

“Look mum, there is a man under the bus!” said a little girl to his mother. In Malaysia these scene actually happen almost every day. We can see a man under a bus or a car, a car fly over the road divider, motorcycle turning to scrap metal and maybe a man flying up into the air. The actions that had been mentioned just now are not from a Hollywood movie or drama scene. They really happen in our daily life. What are those all about? Of course the situation concern about road accident. Can we overcome the situation which faced by every person in our community?

To prevail over, we can start enthusiastic the road safety on our own. As a pedestrian, we must practice the safe way to cross the road carefully and try to avoid standing in the middle of the road. This act very dangerous and you are actually putting yourself jeopardise. The fact shows that, pedestrians become the victims of road accident because of the carelessness and lack of acquaintance. Frankly speaking, most of them are pupil or student, because they did not have any early road safety education, beside the negligence of their own parent.

Conversely, the road accident may happen because of the irresponsible road users. Especially for the goods transportation company, they carry the goods in a large number of quantities. The driver and the worker ought to be more careful when carrying out the job. Devoid of any safety precaution, the vehicle will become the cause of another accident. For instance, in Penang Bridge last month, a crane toppled causing a massive traffic jam along The Jelutong Expressway and Bayan Lepas coastal road heading towards the mainland. Besides that, as road user, we must always abide the rules and regulation of road safety. Somehow, not all road users knew the road regulations and practice them. In order to solve this matter, the vehicle license given to the new driver in Malaysia should be stricter and an evaluate them who disobey it. This will make the new driver know the important of rule and regulation and will concern more on road safety.

Moreover, the number of vehicle in Malaysia is keep increasing, according to the statistic from the Ministry Of Vehicle And Transportation, in 2009 there are about 19854227 vehicle registered and absolutely more accidents will occur in future if each driver did not take the road safety as important for their daily life. Many drivers practise safety precautions on the road but still there are certain road user who are reckless and always doing something which showing unethical attitude on the road. Of course for this kind of person they may bump into problem that is road summon by traffic policemen and possibly a road accident. Recently, in Kuantan, according to the state Road Transport Department, 6,069 summonses had been released in just two weeks duration of Hari Raya Puasa last month. The summons mostly issued to drivers who do not put on rear seatbelt. The Enforcer Director said “We regret that the number of summonses increase during every operation” he said during the road traffic conference at Jalan Kuantan-Gambang.

In conclusion, we may think that the practice of road safety is unimportant and do not make any sense for us but the fact is the entire road users should follow and practice the road safety rules and regulations because a simple careless mistake can lead to unwanted outcome from becoming the new victim or causing someone to be a victim and may lose life too. Then, the entire road user ought to be more responsible and more tolerant when on the road for safety of their family and others.

The Human Body (well, at least some parts of it)

  • It takes your food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach.
  • One human hair can support 3kg (6.6 lb).
  • The average man's penis is two times the length of his thumb.
  • Human thighbones are stronger than concrete.
  • A woman's heart beats faster than a man's.
  • There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.
  • Women blink twice as often as men.
  • The average person's skin weighs twice as much as the brain.
  • Your body uses 300 muscles to balance itself when you are standing still.
  • If saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it.
  • And the best part is:
Women reading this will be finished now.
Men are still busy checking their thumbs.

Student Life can be a Hard Life by Sathiasegkaran a/l Muthumanickam

Starting college can be one of the best and toughest things you can do in your life. All the new things you will learn and all the new people you meet can be exciting. Although it can be the best thing you can do, it can also be the most stressful. I never considered all the difficulties as a student must face. I started to find out that student life can be a hard life.
First of all money is a big issue that came into play. How am I going to pay for all of this stuff? There are outrageously priced books I have to buy, I was lucky to find a used copy of the books I needed that were half price. Trying to take more than one class at a time is also costly in addition to the books. Scholarships and grants are there to help but there is always the possibility I could be denied those options?
Next is having time to do all of the work. I have had to cancel many personal events in order to complete the work for each class. Having time for me to play computer games has become a distant memory. It’s all about the grades and keeping them up because a bad grade will follow me the rest of my life. Having multiple classes and multiple assignments due all at once has proved to be stressful.
When becoming a student I never considered all of these difficulties. I thought it would be a breeze but was quickly corrected. College is stressful because of difficulties a student must face with their money, their time, and their job. Nobody said it would be easy but many graduates testify that it is worth it.
As the final examination is around the corner, I burned the midnight oil for complete all my assignments and revisions which give a lot of stress to myself. I realise that this is just a beginning for me as for my life which will be more challenging in University for my degree. Being a student never meant easy and for all those students who still enjoying without concerning about their future, think twice as great opportunity only knocks once in a lifetime.

Personal Goals That I Want to Achieve by Sathiasegkaran a/l Muthumanickam

I am excited to be back at Polytechnic again. One might ask “Why?” My answer would be this, “Why not?” - I may now achieve some of my personal goals in life as a student of Polytechnic Kuching Sarawak. Personal growth, success in the engineering field and an eagerness for a new life adventure are the goals that I want to achieve as a student. Let’s step back in time a little bit. My first goal was to get enrolled in an undergraduate program at local University but unfortunate I wasn’t able to get a place. It was difficult to decide which or where should I go to achieve my goals as a professional engineer in the future. Do I want to follow a career in any technical field or do I want to obtain a degree in another field? I have asked myself many times how in the world will I juggle my family life, work and a student life. Anyway, I succeeded in enrollment! I’ve obtained a place in Polytechnic Kuching Sarawak to pursue Certificate in Petroleum Engineering even though it’s not a degree which I wished for. That was one step towards reaching my goal. But what’s next? After two weeks of class, I am now asked myself for what I am going to be in the 10 years’ time. Time is running fast, as it is not looking back at me. Why is it so important to have personal goals to achieve a degree? Because, education allows the adult learner to learn about his/her self, learn about others and learn to be more self-oriented towards the meaning of life and the world which are enormously challenging.
My expectations, as a student of Polytechnic Kuching Sarawak, are to obtain my certificate while opening my mind to a new world of adventure and challenges. Other personal goals are to achieve personal growth along with the ability to apply my educational experiences to a real-life work environment. I am confident that I will achieve these personal goals. I believe that my knowledge, experience, skills and determination will assist me in obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree which I will enroll on the 16th January 2010 in University of Technology PETRONAS. This is success and achievement!
The lack of a degree today is viewed as limiting a person’s capabilities to handle upward movement in a company. No matter what a person’s experiences have been in life - if that person doesn’t have a degree, they are passed over for promotions, bonuses, etc. A couple of months ago, my manager which I have done my industrial training in his company told me that I would need a Bachelor’s Degree for him to consider me for a product manager position in our company. It doesn’t matter that I perform a lot of a product manager’s responsibilities now; he said that I need the degree. My intent is to achieve numerous goals while attending University of Technology PETRONAS. My first goal is to obtain the degree in order to move upward at PETRONAS Company as a petroleum engineer. Will I earn my degree while maintaining my career and personal life? I plan on it.
When I was in high school more than 7 years ago, my parents’ wishes were that my siblings and I would attend college. I asked myself, Can I do as my parents’ wishes? Now, here I am doing my final semester and will be joining the University soon for pathway to obtain the degree as I dreamed until now.

My Strength, Weaknesses and Goals as a Student by Sathiasegkaran a/l Muthumanickam

As a fourth semester student in Polytechnic Kuching Sarawak, I have learned a lot about myself and what I want in life. Some of these insights have come in the form of self-realization; that is, as a mortal, imperfect human being as others, I have found several strengths and weaknesses concerning my life that were not revealed until Petrochemical Engineering Department opened its doors almost 2 years ago for me. In this section, I will try to examine and discuss these strengths and weaknesses, and conclude with my goals for the rest of this semester. The goals which I have will help me to eliminate my weak points and will help to improve my strengths.
Weakness in a person can be defined as a lack of strength, a self-indulgent want, fragility, or as an inadequate or defective quality in something, such as a person’s character. Every person has weaknesses in their personality that can either be a point that they every single moment attempt to improve, or something that bruises the ego when brought up in a conversation. As we are the young students of university, we find out our weaknesses really quickly into the work experience. Honestly speaking just for myself, I found out mine within the first week.
One weakness that I found out quickly was that I have an embarrassing addiction to sleeping a lot in the morning, and this seriously hurts me because I have lessons that start at either 7.30 or 8 o’clock, depending on the day of the week, in the previous year they started even earlier at 8:00a.m. I have been always a night person, and find that my creativity and brain output is highest and at best quality in the early hours of the morning. Since I began the life in polytechnic, I’ve gone to bed around 1:00 to 2:00, and since my second semester, even later. This final semester, I did often stay up all the night with my friends either playing cards, computer games, watching movies, or some other activity that would require me going to bed around 5:00 in the morning and sleeping until 3:00 or 4:00 p.m. after which I would repeat the whole cycle. Because of this, my body clock was severely altered, and I am still trying to get myself accustomed to waking up at 9:00 in the morning. Staying up until 2:00 in the morning and then getting up early enough to go to the lesson is a hard chore, and sometimes I wake up, turn my alarm off, then knowing that I shouldn’t, go back to sleep . This, I would say, is my biggest weakness as a student, and also the flaw which I do the least to try and prevent.
Laziness is also one of the most unbreakable weaknesses that I find in myself. Almost as much as procrastination, my laziness contributes to when I actually do my studies, take out the garbage, etc. However, this is the one weakness that I can truly say that I am actively trying to improve in my life, and I have made some strides. But even so, there are often times when I just to say forget it, and don’t do my studies, go to the lesson, attend group meetings, etc.
Even though procrastination is one of my larger flaws, I always attempt to be a diligent worker, no matter if it's at 2:00 in the afternoon or in the morning. Every time that I do a project or a course work, ensuring that I turn in the best work possible is very important to me, and if I feel that what I present is not of the good quality, I revise the work until satisfied with this. Being confident in the quality of the work is an important virtue, mainly because if you do a half job on your assignment, you should expect a grade for that quality of work. Although I don’t strive for straight 30, mainly to help suppress the high level of stress that is usually upon my shoulders, I do want to achieve at least a 25 average, so I try to do as good a job as I possibly can do.
Moreover, I have found that one of my major weaknesses is the fact that I become really stressed quite easily. As the final examination is nearing, it’s doubled the stressed I’ve been through. Plenty of assignments have been given and meanwhile I need to study as well to score in the final paper to achieve my goal for my admission in the University of Technology PETRONAS on 16th January 2010.
